With more than two decades of proven large-enterprise experience serving companies in various sales, marketing, and alliance management roles, Lorin is now a featured speaker in academic and corporate forums, where he shares his experience and knowledge as a leading change agent and visionary in the alliance management and collaboration arena. He is also frequently quoted in the press and once was featured in a SmartPartner cover story that described Lorin as "Mr. Alliance."
Prior to founding Alliancesphere, Lorin was senior vice president of alliances for Scient (formerly iXL), where he was responsible for the development, management, and success of its alliance program. He directed the corporate alliances effort at iXL and Scient, creating an industry-leading program recognized as "Best in Class" by Gartner. His group established relationships with, and executed corporate and field initiatives on behalf of, technology leaders such as Sun Microsystems, Intel, Microsoft, Cisco, IBM, Oracle, BEA, and Interwoven. Under Lorin's leadership, the alliance program influenced hundreds of millions dollars in iXL and Scient revenue.
Lorin previously served as assistant vice president for the Americas for NCR/Teradata's High Availability/Electronic Commerce group. While working at NCR, Lorin pioneered sales and marketing alliances and is credited with the launch and support of the Microsoft Enterprise Partnership initiative.
Today Lorin contributes time and expertise to many organizations. He is the chairman-elect for the American Israel Chamber of Commerce (AICC) in Atlanta and also serves as the organization's Software Committee chairman. Lorin is also a founding member and past president of the Southeast Chapter of the Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals (ASAP).
Lorin Coles holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Georgia and resides in Atlanta with his wife, Meg, and three children.
